The Little Miami Scenic River & People Who Love It

The Little Miami River became Ohio’s first designated State Scenic River in 1969. Well-know for its breathtaking scenery, the Little Miami River valley also supports more than 87 species of fish, 36 species of mussels (including five state endangered species) and numerous species of breeding birds.

Road Rivers and Trails

We are proud to announce our partnership with Road Rivers and Trails (RRT) for river clean ups throughout the season.  If you are interested in participating in one of our sponsored river clean up efforts, please contact them.

Little Miami Brewing Company

The Little Miami Brewing Company (LMBC) is located along our stretch of river and it’s a perfect pitstop to enjoy great food and refreshments, and an unmatched view of the Little Miami River!  LMBC is directly across the river from the Terrell’s Short Trip put in and an option for those folks taking the 6 mile mid trip and the 8.5 mile kayak adventure trip.

Little Miami Conservancy

Little Miami Conservancy (LMC) is a non-profit 501c)3 river conservation organization dedicated to the conservation of the Little Miami National & State Scenic River, a Class 1 river flowing 105 miles through the rolling terrain of Southwest Ohio, USA.

Founded in 1967 by Glenn Thompson, 500 families, individuals, foundations and local businesses support LMC’s conservation efforts which focus on riparian forest protection and water quality protection.

CELEBRATING OVER 40 YEARS OF RIVER CONSERVATION
In recent years LMC efforts have led to the permanent protection of many miles of riverfront forest habitat through negotiated gifts and purchases of riverfront land and conservation easements.

To date over 53% of the Little Miami National Scenic River riparian forest (AKA the Little Miami Forest Preserve) receives permanent protection through public and quasi-public ownership (including LMC ownership of land and conservation easements). An additional 22% of the riverfront receives some protection through local river buffer zoning ordinances.

Rivers Unlimited

Rivers Unlimited is the Ohio statewide group created by citizens to protect and restore our rivers. We’re the oldest in the nation, founded in 1972.

Rivers Unlimited works to restore, maintain and improve the 61,000 miles of rivers and streams in the state. The condition of our river waters and corridors affects our economy, our health, our environment, our quality of life, the value of our property and the sustainability of our communities.

Protected natural rivers are vital to all of us. Rivers Unlimited will work with you to investigate, research, and collaborate on ways to support and care for the river in your community.
